Barrios al Poder is a power-building program led by working-class immigrant parents impacted by the poli-migra, including deportation, family separation, and worker exploitation.
This program organizes community members with similar lived experiences who live in poor and working class neighborhoods that are under-resourced and filled with police. Barrios al Poder hosts a series of “Saber es Poder” (Knowledge is Power) workshops to recruit and share information with the local community on topics like legal defense plans, resources to respond to state violence, and civic engagement skills to advocate for change at the school, city, and state levels.
